Most hand made kilts range from 400-1000+ dollars. I don't need the shoes, socks, jacket, or pins. Just a traditional 8 yard kilt, flashes, chain, and maybe a sporran. Any good places you know where I can get one that is extremely expensive?

I used to know some shops, but I've forgotten about them. Google should be able to help you. You might even luck into a local place.

Btw, you probably want the heavy weight kilt. They keep their shape better, and aren't appreciably warmer in the summer.

These are good kilts for daily wear. You can beat the hell out of them, then throw them in the wash; probably not what you're looking for for this purpose though.

Why are you specifically looking for one that is extremely expensive? And if you're going to intentionally buy one that is extremely expensive, I would recommend getting a ticket to Scotland and getting one custom made. I knew someone who did that, and I'll have to admit, his kilt was by far the most authentic I'd ever seen (being handmade by a real Scottish tailor in Edinburgh and whatnot).

Hi Regs, Your thread caught my eye, for we have a very authentic shop here in Williamsburg,(the home of at least 20 bands that consist of only 2 instruments, drum, and fife), the Scotland House LTD. I have been there many a time. Their web site is under construction so all that is there is a phone #. I called them just now, and a knowledgeable man told me that all they have in stock right now is the 6 yard, and mostly black watch. The 8 yards are a special order taking up to 8 weeks for delivery. They cost $595, and $695 for premium, (retail). He was not supposed to, but he told me who they ordered from; http://www.houseofedgar.com/acatalog/Kilts.html
Hope this helps, Cheerio

Wow, thanks guys.

I never imagined kilts to be so expensive, but I forgot most of them are hand made and made to order.

Don't spin around in your kilt. They will fly up and expose your junk. They fly up really easily.
