I need to buy a DX9 video card for class.

I'm taking an "advanced computer graphics" class, and we're going to be writing software that uses hardware shaders, so I either need a new video card, or I need to work in the computer labs.

I think this is about the best excuse to upgrade I've ever had.

I wish I could find an excuse to upgrade my P3 750, but with no money it's difficult to justify 🙁

You must be on one hell of a budget if you can't upgrade from that

Get a job?

Just buy like a Radeon 9600 or something. They are decent and very cheap. (starting around $40, at least on FS/FT)

Compared to textbook prices, the cost of a new vid card isn't so bad. How strange is that?

It all depends on where you purchase them IMO oboeguy 🙂

I've got a job, but I'm paying down my student loans at the moment. There's no need for me to take on extra debt when it's not absolutely necessary. I can still post here, and download pics from cameras on my USB 1 ports. Until that stops working, I'll live.
