Sam's will mount tires you didn't buy there? Did not know that and will file that information away for the next time I need tires.

Toyo Proxes4. Ultra high performance all-season M+S. Comparable design to the T1-S so it handles great in wet and dry, is very lightweight, and also works adequately in light snow so it's a great year round tire. Toyo has a 5 year road hazard warranty that you don't have to pay extra for, and the Proxes4 sell for about $100 each (depending on size) so they're less expensive than most comparable tires (like the Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S).
Tirerack doesn't carry Toyos, which is fine because Tirerack's warranty and local service is worthless-to-non-existant anyway. You could get them at Les Schwabs (should be one near you somewhere in Utah), but their prices have become uncompetitive in the past few years while their service has declined. I recommend (as NutBucket did) going to Discount Tires B&M.

A set of forums for Lancer owners.

You have a car that is commonly modified, the wheels and tires are often the first to go. Those people often sell their stocks CHEAP. I got a set of Subaru rims and tires for under $300. I know people into Imprezas don't think much of the stock tires for my car (Bridgestone RE-92), and if they end up with a set not on rims they can let these things go for like $20-25 a tire.

It might be worth it to ask in a regional forum if anyone has some stockers sitting in their garage that they aren't using.

Even if they don't have a set of stocks for cheap, they may know a local shop that treats Lancer owners RIGHT, or one that is known to beat Tirerack's prices after considering shipping, installing, mounting and balancing.

Why would a shop treat Lancer owners any differently😕? Its not like the OP has an Evo......

I meant specially catered towards Lancers. I have an Impreza WRX and the shops don't really differentiate between STi, WRX or RS owners, they're all Imprezas they all get treated well. At least a couple of shops I go to are 'Subaru' shops and Subaru owners get treated better than Mitsu owners. Maybe they don't tell the other guys about 'special' pricing. I'm sure there are shops that are just the opposite.

It's good to get friendly with some shop owners.

I had bad experience with Walmart.
I have a Jetta with alloy wheels.
Their technicians weren't very knowledgeable with VWs.
They spent 5 hours trying to put on my tires and scratched my wheels.
I ended up with 2 free tires ($200) and some minor scratches.
I'll never go there again.

I think they are fine for more common cars though.

Beat these... On sale at Sears if you don't want to order online.
Posters here always talk about how great Tirerack is, so allow me just a quick run-through on how Tirerack.com and their OMGgreatprices system works:

Tires: $59.00 each (great price, right?) * 4 = $236.00
plus Road Hazard @ $28.32 = $264.32
plus shipping (actual cost from in-stock warehouse to my zip) @ $61.98 = $326.30
plus install/mount/balance/valve stems at local tire shop @ $19.99 per tire = $406.26 or $101.57 per tire after all is said and done for H-rated 60 series 15's...

Just to compare, my GF picked up the next level up from BF Goodrich, g-Force T/A KDWS in 205/55ZR16, a Z-rated Ultra High Performance All-Season M+S, at Costco price-matched to Tirerack @ $95 each ($380 total) but mounted, balanced, and installed with full road hazard warranty.

I recently got my Toyo Proxes4 (an even better all-season) in 225/45ZR17 for $115 each -- with road hazard warranty, mounted, balanced, and shipped to my door. The comparable tire on Tirerack (they don't sell Toyos), the Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S, is $123 in the same size before shipping, mounting, balancing, and no road hazard warranty.

The sale at Sears might be good though 🙂

Sears won't exactly match Tire Rack, but they'll meet you halfway. My father-in-law didn't want to buy online, even though it would have saved him $50.00. That savings was partially due to state tax, so I really wouldn't expect a B&M to be able to match it, but Sears gave him a "competitive discount" of about $25.00, so he bought them there.

I bought Sears extended warranty on our tires, because it was only $8.00 per tire. I now have no idea why I did that, but I can get a full refund for that warranty, if I ask for it within 60 days, which I will do on the 59th day. 😛

No. Costco only carries Bridgestone and Michelin brands (Michelin owns BF Goodrich).
