I need the SATA driver floppy or the files for it Maxtor

When I bought my maxtor hard drive, it only came with the drive itself. I need the drivers for the sata HD. I for some reason cannot find these drivers on Maxtor's website. Can anyone help me out or at least point me in the right direction.

You need the drivers for your SATA controller, not for your Maxtor drive. The drivers will be with the motherboard drivers, or you can get them from the mobo maker's site.

It looks like it needs a BIOS upgrade for the SATA to function also.
If you aren't running the latest BIOS, you'll need to flash it, and that's why the SATA drive isn't working.

Yeah, Windows probably can't see your SATA controller because there are no drivers for it installed. Does the controller show up in device manager? It will be the VIA VT8237 controller. These drivers should be on your mobo driver CD.

I think these are the ones that need to be on a floppy and have to be installed using the F6 key when you install windows. I am not sure how to install them after windows has been installed.
