I need suggestions on a good cable modem.

The one I have was provided by my cable provider. You might check with yours first.

Like Vincent said, most cable companies will provide you with one. If you are going to get one, look for one of the LanCity modems tham can be hacked to uncap the upstream limit imposed by many providors.
