I need some sort of rubber downspout extender

H ave a downspout on the side of my house that the driveway runs alongside. There is about 1 ft between the side of my house and the driveway. So to get a 3-4ft extension away from my house so that water is carried far enough away, that means the extension runs 2-3ft into my single-lane driveway. Obviously, that doesn't work so well as no matter what downspout I put there it gets run over by the cars repeatedly and trashed. I need some sort of rubber extension that can be rolled over by a car but not lose it's form. I've used vinyl ones, but in the cold winters, they crack and shatter.

Any ideas?

The frost king looks like it but you can always buy bulk.

;)

My thought on the bulk is just toss it every year. Pretty cheap. A french drain would be the best way more $$ and effort.

That won't work. There's no way that thing works well in the summer let alone a Wisconsin winter.
I did stumble onto this. I didn't think of a "splash guard" but this seems like it may work put a 1ft normal aluminum extension on and then something like this to carry water away further.

Cheap enough to give it a try.

No idea if the automatic roll up ones are durable for you winter.

Yeah that's my thought as well - $20 is worth the gamble.
I just dont think those rollup ones will work all that great regardless of the weather. The are is question has a few corners and such too that I can just imagine it getting hung up on as well. It just seems like an actual rubber extender would exists - not plastic or vinyl, but rubber.

Could you run the down spout just to the edge of the driveway and build a little chanel the rest of the way out of mortar?

Go to your local fire department and ask them to save you a 5' of 3" hose. They test every year and will always have a few that fail. Slide this over your downspout, and there's your extended downspout. You can run over that hose 1,000 times and it'll be fine.

Either take out a strip of the driveway, lay pipe then concrete over it, or put a 90' elbow on it and run it parallel to the driveway past the end of the house as far as needed. Depending on the grading of the lot, you may be able to bury much of it out of sight.

One of these things should have been done in the first place, no downspout should terminate at the foundation.

It might help if we had a satellite view of the house with the downspout location indicated on it.
