I need some paypal help.

I sent money to someone using paypal today. I made a mistake and selected an old checking account that had been closed for sometime. I thought I deleted it out of my profile but it was still there. I did't realize it till I got my email confirmation. The problem is that everything shows that it has gone thru and the guy I sent it to e-mailed me thanking me for the payment. I went to my bank and they couldn't find the account paypal says I used so I am sure it will be rejected. How does this work? I don't mind sending him the money again in the morning with the card I intended to use, but for some reason I thought you put a back up account in your profile but I am not sure. I can't find any info on the paypal site, but I would hate to send him the money again and then have a default form of payment kick in becuase the first transaction bounced. The main problem is the transaction says it takes 3-4 days to complete so I don't know how to find out what will happen. Anyone know how this works? Am I going to be fine resending him the money or should I wait?

Thanks

Check your transaction detail and see what's listed under "source of funds" I bet that transaction automatically rolled to your existing linked account.

Just tell the seller the situation and wait for a day or two for the payment to be rejected.

Resend payment, seller ships. The end.

Oh yeah, and delete the account now so you don't repeat mistake.

Just call paypal customer sevice, its a 1800 number, tell them what is up and they should be able to change it around for you before the money gets taken away from the other guy or you go into bad standings with paypal and they mess with your account. If the later happens then your really screwed because paypal would think your trying to scam them so they are going to put a hold on your account for awhile and make you jump through all kinds of hoops again. And then the money gets taken away from the other guy and hes breathing down your back for the weeks your jumping through hoops jalling you out as a troll when your not.

dont leave the seller out of the loop put yourself in his position ... what would you think. just explain to him immediately what happened and tell him to hold the item until this mess gets sorted out. then telephone paypal and see what they have to say.

but you must be proactive otherwise, you will probably... by default... look guilty if you remain inactive.
