I have an Antec sx1030b case. I was overclocking this computer, so i had alot of loud high performance fans in it, 4 x 80 high-output sunon and a 80mm delta... Well i am giving this computer to my brother and where he is putting it it needs to be quiet. My question is, what 80mm fan is quiet and still has good performance? Also if i am putting a lower cfm fan on the 80mm convertor on my processor, should i take it off and put a 60mm on? If so what 60mm fan is what i am looking for? Also, the computer will not be overclocked anymore... :(

Thanks,
Brad

Go with Panaflo fans. They are quiet with great performance. Make sure you go with the "L"ow series of Panaflos. These will be the most quiet in their line. As for size, stick with the 80mm. The smaller the fan, the more noisy it can be IMHO. You can buy Panaflos here. Good Luck!

I second the Panaflo case fans. I would also suggest using rubber grommets to mount the fans to the case. Although, I haven't used their fans Papst is supposed to make good ones too.

You might consider checking how much the PSU/CPU-HSF/Video-HSF contribute to your "noise profile."

If your not overclocking, you don't have to use ALL 4 x 80mm fan slots. More fans = more noise. You could have 1 intake, and 1 exhaust. As long as the heatsink is good enough and nothing is overclocked (you said CPU wasn't so...). Experiment with it. If there isn't that much noise difference between 2 and 4 fans, then don't worry about it. Look at the temps too.

I like PC Power and Cooling Silencers and have used them in both my SX1000 and SX600 cases--28 cfm and 20db.

I just put in the adjustable enermax fans in my case. I have them set at just above low. Can't hear em, and they are still pushing a nice amount of air. Case temp has been the same as before. I had a 92mm sunon in front and a 92mm sunon on top before. These new fans are silent and I can adjust them if needed.

mpja.com for $2.49 80mm Panaflos (x12)
svcompucycle.com for $0.50 4-pin connectors

I have purchased two dozen of them without a single failure. One of the other fans mentioned in this posts have burned out on me on several occasions.

Just got my case from coolcases.com DECKED out with 9 panaflo fans. There is truly NO noise in this case (w8500). Just be sure to get a good heatsink fan, and add a panaflo to it to keep noise to a minimum. Also think about a HD cooler to muffle the HD noise.
