I have a '99 Chevy Tahoe with 135,000 miles on it and my headlights are horrible.

I feel like they don't illuminate for anything unless my brights are on.

They're pointing straight and correct, they just don't seem to put out enough usable light.

I'm thinking I need all new headlight casings/lenses since the ones I have are kind of milky and yellowish looking.

Anyone know of any good yet affordable replacement options?

I don't want some shitty blue looking bulbs that all the ricers use or anything like that either, just something that produces the most visible illumination while being as affordable as possible.

i would try cleaning the headlights, might just be a layer of crap making the light reflect back inwards

Heres what you do, take some rubbing compound to the lenses. It will clear that yellow film right off it.

Did it to a girls truck a few weeks ago. Except, I did just one light to screw with her.

Once you get the crap off the covers you can replace the bulbs with Sylvania Silverstars. I have heard good things about their light output.

Sylvania Silverstars are ok, Xtravision is better since it's the same bulb without the blue coating.

Clean Headlights of accumulated filth/yellowing
1. Plastix/rubbing compound on headlights then cover with lamin-x. If it is really bad you may need to have them taken out and wet sand them

Upgrade Power Delivery to Headlights
2. Heavy duty headlight harness. Such as found at here:
http://www.suvlights.com/index.php?cPath=24_73

Install Higher Output Bulbs
3. Replacement bulbs: European Spec Phillips/Osram/Narva bulbes such as these are significantly better than US spec bulbs.

Enjoy much improved lighting with not a hint of rice. FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's some stuff called "Simple Blue" or something... I had a bottle that I lent to my brother and he lost it, and now I can't find it in any store.

wet sand the lens with a 1600 grit (use water of course)
and then move to a 2000 grit
then use any plastic compound (meguiars plasX )
wipe clean with a clean towel
repeat 6 months from now :)

Silverstars burn out extremely fast.
Look for GE Nighthawk bulbs. I know they sell them at Wal-Mart.

My wife's Corolla always had dim lights, since I replaced them the difference is very clear.

Edit: IIRC, they cost less than Silverstars
