I have to print 2000 brouchures, thats 2000 pages front and back so 4000 pages total.
I have a lexmark Z53 printer.

I was wondering if someone could tell me aproximatly how many brochures the ink cartriges in my printer can do. It has to print color and B&W on medium print quality.

Also do you think I would be better off to get the person I am doing the job for to buy alot of cartiges or get them to get a better printer made for printing stuff like brochures?

thanks,
Josh

It will depend on the % coverage of the document.

Cartridges are rated in pages @ a given percent coverage, usually 5%.

If you're seriously considering printing 2000 double sided pages on a <$100 printer you're out of your mind.

I'm not seeing any cartridge ratings on Lexmark's web page, but the high yield cartridges are almost $40 apiece. You would be MUCH better off getting it professionally printed on a real printer, consumer inkjets are completely unsuitable for a job like this.

Yea thats what I thought, the guy is checking with a local print shop, but he just wants to get some more options. The documents covr 70-80% of each side of the paper.

I did a little searching, the cartridges appear to be rated for 420 pages at 5% coverage. 80% coverage you're looking at <30 pages per cartridge, that's a cost of well over $1 per side.

If they're going to be printing jobs like this regularly, and don't want to have it done professionally, they need to invest in a color laser printer. Not only will the finished product look better, the printer will pay for itself in just a few jobs like this.

Well this is on the side for my uncle, he owns a truck stop. I have been making letter heads, fax sheets, now brochures, and probally more stuff later on. If i ask him he will probally get me the printer to use, money isnt really a big deal to him. I will have to look around and see.

Thats probally one that he would actually go for. I have to print 2000 of them now, but after those 2000 brochures are gone I will be printing another 2000 or more. And as large as this buisness is he probally will need them very soon. I think the printing company will have to charge 500 I think is what he said. But My design was done within a program that im not sure if the printshop has access too.
