I need some help with my Rayovac I-C3 batteries

In my unit, the batteries would recharge in 15 mins. Once I popped the charger in the outlet, the fan would start spinning and it would stay like that for 15 mins and the fan would turn off and LED would turn off too. I've used these two AA batteries for about 3-4 days which shouldn't have drained the batteries. But now, after trying to recharge them, the fan doesn't turn on and the unit's LED never turns off. I've left it charging for like 15 hours and the LED still wont' turn off. What gives?

defective unit? try charging another battery. Not the IC3 type but the normal rechargeble battery

Sounds defective... not too sure what you expected from us! It's a charger, you pop in batteries, plug it in outlet, and that's it. I have the same, and love it. I would say it's probably the charger that's the problem.

I would also say that it is defective.

BTW, I'm pretty sure the whole 15 minute charge thing is a joke. There's no way they can pump that much energy into the battery that fast without it overheating and severely reducing the life of the battery. Although, I guess you did mention that the unit has a fan.

I bet it charges them to 75-80% at best.

A good 2 hour charger will charge a battery to about 96%. Those last 3-4%(assuming the battery is physically capable of holding full charge) have to come by trickle-charging.

I don't know, but it does charge in 15 mins (well, i've had it fluctuate up to 16 mins), and once the 15 mins is up, it shuts itself off... i don't know why it would shut itself off at 75%. Anyways, the batteries are awesome.

Hmm.. I suppose it's possible, especially since it has a fan.. I'm skeptical though, it goes against conventional battery/charger wisdom.

I'm all for new technology, though. How many mAh do the batteries hold?

Hmm, damn. Couldn't directly compare them to what I have.

I use a set of 2200mAh Powerex batteries in my A60, and can get 300 - 600 pics depending on how much flash use... I'd say it averages around 450, or about 2 (256mb) cards full.

There are 2500mAh batteries popping up on eBay, I'd like to try some of those.

Too bad the Rayovac I-C3's aren't in The Great Battery Shootout.

How many charges does it claim you can get out of the batteries? Does it say something like 250-500(ie: is it reduced)? Heat is a rechargable batteries worst enemy.
