Hi everyone,

I was recently involved in an accident where the fault of the accident was placed on the other driver. however, that other driver doens't have insurance. my insurance policy does have uninsured motorist protection so my question is: will my rates go up if i file the claim against my own insurance company? Some friends are saying that my rates will increase so the insurance company can recover their costs. others are saying that they won't since it's not my fault. What do i do? any help is appreciated. Thanks!

No, if it's not your fault and/or it's your first time. Your ins. company will get their money back (possible with other fees) from the other driver. It happened to my friend, his premium didn't increase (he had AAA)
