When I get to the raid driver specify part in windows Xp installation I get the error "File txtsetup.oem caused an unexpected error (4096) at line 1742 in d:\xpsp1\base\setup\oemdiskc. Press any key to continue."

I'm using a Chaintech VNF4 Ultra.

Does anyone know how to fix this error?

I did a search and found alot of people with similiar type problems but there wasn't any solutions. I have tried a couple different floppy disks and I have made sure everything is plugged in right.

Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks.

Update: I downloaded the 6.6 (newest stuff) and copied the same raid files to a floppy. This time I got the two files to come up. When I selected the top one I got the message "File nvraid.sys caused an unexpected error (4096) at line 2108 in d:\xpsp1\base\setup\oemdisk.c."

An odd (maybe) coincidence: The number 4096 is displayed next to my pcie card, I'm not sure what it was saying but it was there. Could there be some kind of conflict or something?

When you F6 the XP install to select the Raid Driver, did you select all the drivers on your floppy disk?

First: make sure you have all the files on you disk:

disk1 <== this is a file
idecoi.dll
nvata.cat
nvatabus.inf
NvAtaBus.sys
nvcoi.dll
nvide.nvu
nvraid.cat
nvraid.inf
nvraid.sys
nvraidco.dll
nvuide.exe
txtsetup.oem

Second: select the 2 sata drivers (nvraid.sys and NvAtaBus.sys) to make the array installation work.

It sounds like your install is looking for a file and erroring out. Hope this works.

I just found out I get errors with or without raid. I'm getting errors like The file such and sunch could not be copied. I'm going to try a couple cd's to make sure it not just a bad cd.

Okay, its not the cd's. I got windows to install fine without raid when I tried different ram. So, I think I have bad ram and a driver/firmware problem with raid. The only error I get is the one I posted before. With my other ram I get all kinds of errors without raid enabled, like "this couldn't be installed" and stuff.

evilharp, I'll make sure I have those files. I'll let you know....

Alright, I'm missing nvata.cat I'm gonna try and find it and add it. Hopefully we have a winner here.....

evilharp, what I did was download the newest Nforce stuff install them and then I did a search for all those files you listed and copied them to a floppy. I got all of them besides nvraid.cat, I'm still looking for that one.

Alright. I just did everything witout that one file. It asked me about it and I just skipped it. I got a whole lot of "this is not m$ logo certified" type messages. But everthing seems to be running well. Thanks a whole lot evilharp. I wish Chaintech just included a raid floppy disk like most other companies do.

I had this same problem tonight setting up my first raid system....I got through quite easily as follows....

1. Create the driver disk from the motherboard CD with the makedisk.exe
2. Create another driver disk by booting off the motherboard CD, then choose the 32bit driver disk option.
3. Copy the nvraid.cat file from the second disk you just made onto the first disk you made using the makedisk utility.
4. Use the First disk and follow the instructions as outlined in the manual.

That's it...I'm now running winXPSP2 no probs

Cheers,
Bru.
