I am sure there is a way to do this ... I just dont know how. What I want to do is set up a profile for HL2 that has different settings than my normal monitor settings. I have found that HL2 needs alot more gamma than normal. So I want it to load that profile with more gamma and w/e else I change to load when I start that game then return to normal after I end the game.
What do you think possible?
I have looked in the nvidia tab under profiles... tried to add one ... I dont think that works or I did it wrong.

Thanks for any help.

BTW HL2 name is SwearingCashew ....

i never actually did it, but i don't think you need powerstrip. why can't you just use the tabs, are they not saving or not letting you change? i don't understand...

Whenever I make a change it only changes what my desk top looks like. The setting I need to HL2 would be unbareable on my desk top. Like I said .... I am sure there is a way .. I just dont know how. I'd google powerstrip.

doesn't Nvidia's driver settings allow you to pre-config display settings w hen certain applications are opened? I'm on campus right now so I can't confirm, but I do recall seeing such an option.

I think so but either it doesnt work for games not listed in their list or I dont know how to use it. (most likely the latter)

maybe you're right, maybe the game has to be on the "add profile" list. again, i don't know for sure because i never did it. looks kinda like you just can pick from additional pre configured profiles tho.

i'm sure someone else must have done this.

Uh ... maybe I'm remembering this wrong (but I don' t think I am ... ) Doesn't HL2 have an IN-GAME setting that will allow you to tweak the gamma? Maybe it is just brightness (black level) but I know there is an option with a test screen in HL2 so you can set your monitor for the best level to play the game - and once you boot out of the game it resets back to your default settings ... I assume you tried this already?

Yeah, the highest you can set the gamma in HL2 is 1.6 .... not nearly high enough to see everything in the game.

There is a gamma correction tab in all NVidia drivers. I nudge this a bit up by default (usually to 1.16 or 1.31) then changing the gamma in games is IN ADDITION to what I have set on the desktop.

I'm a hardcore NVidia gamer. I've found just nudging the gamma on desktop is enough were the tabs in-game sliders will give me the color levels I want.

I NEVER leave the NVidia color settings at default as they are ALWAYS too dark for games. I find nudging a few settings up just a tad in the NVidia drivers is good enough for desktop, then I can add more if need be in-game with the in-game sliders.
