I need some help selecting some CRTs.

Here is a link to newegg of some monitors we're going to start using for come computers for kids in a childcare center

These PCs will be for games and educational software, so text is not an issue. Durability is primary with color next.

One has a "Shadow Mask" another an "Invar shadow mask". I don't know what these mean as far as how they fit in our criteria.

It's essential that ViewSonic be good about returns should any fail.

Invar is a trade name for shadow mask material that is thermally stable in dimension.

Check the PCMag.com and/or PCWorld.com web sites for annual quality and service articles. That should give you some idea of where the CRT monitor makers stand. Why 15" units - most software these days seems to work best at 1024/768 which gets pretty constricted at 15". Besides which you can usually get Mag 17" monitors at Best Buy (Envision at Staples et al.) for $99. and even less with rebates. IMO, it is silly to buy monitors by mail order - shipping'll kill you... In AZ you probably have a Fry's or other big-box stores nearby - probably even work a better deal on multiple unit sales to a non-profit or educational outfit. Just check the Sunday paper for the best deal...
Get extended warranty (learn about all available ExWarr options - e.g. you don't have to buy such things from the dealer - usually cheaper and better if you don't - look into available property insurance riders - and read fine print carefully) for a few $$ more. Take the tilt-swivel stands off - set the monitors on boxes or risers of some sort to elevate them - will help prevent "accidental' damage in such environments... Depends on how well-behaved the homyocks in question are as to what lengths you may have to go - in some cases plexiglass monitor sheilds aren't out of the question...
