today morning i was using my computer as usual, i din test anything or benchmark anything, just surfing the net...suddenly the monitor turns black and system stop responding...i thought its just a usual malfunction and so i restart my pc...but the monitor won't turn on...and i know that my pc won't even load windows, it just hangs there

after i turn off the computer for like 2 hours and i turn it on, the monitor finally went back and my pc loads into windows...it says windows just recover from a critical error or something, and it says my ati 9800 pro might be responsible for the system unstability... and before i can do anything, the systems hangs again...i have to restart again

after i restart, the monitor won't turn on again (it just stays black, without showing any booting scenes)

now everytime i wait for like 2 hours then turn on my pc the monitor will turn on but all it shows is not normal words, but like a pile of trash that i can't even see wat it is showing...

i can't even access the bios settings becoz everytime i press del and go into bios menu, all it shows is alien words and nothing else, i can control with the cursor but i dunno which settings i'm pointing at...get wat i mean? i can't see a single english words in it...all it shows are scrapped words...

now i dunno wat to do...

You can try reseating the Radeon.

If that doesn't work you can try using a spare video card if you have one. Or a friend's.

Is your CPU fan spinning?

Not sure but you can try booting with just the needed things if you haven't already. CPU, Video, maybe even unplug the hard drive.

Could be a gone bad CPU (does that happen?) - I don't know - hope someone else has a better advice.. ;)

Explain that. If you've had system instabilities all along, why not investigate BEFORE you get a complete blackout? If you get zero monitor, there's not much you can do besides swap parts at this point. Try clearing your CMOS though...if its not vid related that might at least get you a boot.

Actually I get the occasional restart too, but they are too irregular and happen in completely different circumstances so they're kinda impossible to troubleshoot. I mean I can't just sit week long and wait for it to restart itself. ;) Maybe that's what iiori meant.

similar problem here
except today mine seemed to have stopped working altogether
seems to be a chip going (gone??) bad
mine would work if i left it alone for some time or jiggled the fan a bit
