There's this song that every time I hear it, it makes me think that I want to get it. Problem is, I don't know what it is, who it's by, or when it was written. I don't have much information here so this is probably a shot in the dark, but this is what I've got.

It's played on oldies radio stations and judging by the sound of it, it was probably recorded in the late 60s. I think two parts of the lyrics are "time won't let me" and "I can't wait for another" or maybe "I can't wait forever," I'm not sure. That's pretty much all I've got. The only other thing that's distinctive is that it's an upbeat song and there's a trumpet part that's repeated several times throughout the song right after the (male) vocalist says "time won't let me." The trumpet part is pretty high above the staff and it's the main thing happening in the song at the time.

I know it's a longshot but I heard the song at Hooters earlier and it reminded me how much I want to get the song. I'm pretty sure they weren't playing a radio station so I can't check yes.net. Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Time Won't Let Me
THE OUTSIDERS
(Tom King - Chet Kelley)

I can't wait forever
Even though you want me to
I can't wait forever
To know if you'll be true
Time won't let me (oh, no)
Time won't let me (oh, no)
Time won't let me...ee...ee...ee
[1: Wait that long (repeat intro 1X; to Verse 2)]
[2: Wow! (to solo)]
[3: Wait that long (to coda)]

Can't you see I've waited too long
To love you, to hold you in my arms

Ahhh...ahhh...ahhh...ah!
[repeat verse 1]
[repeat chorus]

(CODA)...long It won't let me wait that long
(wait, wait, wait, wait that long)

Awesome, thanks a lot. This song has been at the top of my "bugging me" list for the longest time.

And yes, oldies are great stuff. Every time I hear a song that I like and I ask my parents what it is (or who it's by), they're always like "I don't know." It's so hard to figure out some of those old songs.

Thanks again, guys.

There's a song I want as well, but I really know almost zero of the lyrics. I could hum the tune, but that probably wouldn't convey to well on here =)
