don't know a lot about intel motherboards. I need a cpu that will fit that is at least 2.6ghz. What do you recommend? It has to be an intel. I built a computer for a guy and his sign machine and it is not compatible with an amd chip. Help is needed fast.

Is this board ABIT GD8 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 915P ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
compatible with this cpu
Intel Pentium 4 630 Prescott 800MHz FSB 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 EM64T Processor - Retail

Ok, now answer me this. I have to change the motherboard and the cpu because of incompatability with a piece of equipment it will be running. Will I have to uninstall the os and then reinstall. The only thing I will be changing is the mobod and cpu. I have an oem xp pro.

Should be fine! Look here to see that the Pentium 4 6xx is supported with the newest BIOS version 13... I'd reinstall Windows, to be sure you don't get any problem from replacing the motherboard... Good luck with it...

I have the oem xp pro and am a little scared that it will only activate once like someone said. Others have said no but my luck with this one that is what will happen. ???????????

Should I enable or disable hypterthreading? It killed my graphics on my other machine so I disabled it. What do you think.

Easy... Windows XP Pro can be activated quite a few times... However, it cannot be registered as much... 😉 Activation is enough...

Very strange what you're saying... 😕 However, I would activate it... Your motherboard fully supports it so there shouldn't be any problem whatsoever... Update the BIOS maybe...

Yes, I've done it myself a couple of times already... I think four or five times per year is the max, but don't quote me on that...
