Well if anyone is from around the Roanoke/Blacksburg area, there was a song they were playing on the radio for a while until a few weeks ago. It was a really cool beat (trance) that faded out to a woman singing and vice versa. I'm not sure of the title but if anyone can figure it out (with my description being as vague as it is) I'd appreciate it.

The Crystal Method - "Vegas" or "Tweekend"
Chemical Brothers - "Come With Us"
DJ Skribble / MTV - "Skribble's House"
Ministry of Sound - "Annual 2001"

I figured that's the only thing they'd play on the radio that even came close :|
Maybe Fragma or something...

Look for mixes by Blank & Jones, DJ Tiesto, and if you like Sandstorm by Darude you may want to check into his other tracks like Feel the Beat, Calm Before the Storm, etc. They sound pretty much a like.

<< DJ Skribble / MTV - "Skribble's House" >>

that has got to be one of the worse mixes i have ever heard of... god... Its seconded only to his mix before that one, Skribble's Essential Spring Break 2001.

d00d, those are ALL TRANCE producers/dj's :p nowhere NEAR Techno.
while I'm at it BT - E.S.C.M. is more progressive trance than Techno.

edit ok, how come the people who don't know anything about electronica answer this question~!

<< mixes by Blank & Jones, DJ Tiesto, and if you like Sandstorm by Darude >>

ok, Blank & Jones - again TRANCE. dj Tiesto, for GOD SAKES MAN, he's one of the TOP 3 TRANCE dj's in the world.
As for Sandstorm - I dunno what to call that - but Eurotrash!!!!

If you guys wanna hear some good techno - you have to go to the originators~!
Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson - or try Erick Morillo for nu skool techno & anything on the Tresor label is decent techno - you could try the new dj Shufflemaster - EXP album

geez - even when Tiesto goes a little progressive in his sets, it's still nowhere near techno~!

How can you use words like "good" and "Techno" in the same sentence? :) J/K. I actually prefer old school techno like Kraftwerk and Art of Noise. Some pre "Dont you want me" Human League is cool also.

geez, kick back and have a couple more joints. he was referencing to beats similar to that of Sandstorm and such, i am just directing to dj's mixes with similar beats not saying Tiesto is Techno.. because if he is, I wouldn't be listening to his stuff. no one pissed in your stash, so don't come and thread crap.

he said

<< Im looking for hard and fast beats sorta like Derb- Derbus, Sandstorm, >>

which is trance, not techo, hence why i gave him the name of trance dj's/producers

i'm pretty sure you've noticed, but most people call anything electronic techno

sandstorm is actually a good song, it was just sadly played out

and since when did eric morillo spin techno? last time i checked he spun house

sorry, techno isn't my thing, house/trance is

<< edit ok, how come the people who don't know anything about electronica answer this question~! >>

right... we give him references to the kind of music he likes and all of a sudden "we don't know anything about electronica"

I could have sworn trance was just a subgenre of techno. As was house, progressive, jungle, etc. I'm pretty sure "techno" encompasses all of them. *shrug*

techno is a subgenre of electronica

it has a more industrial/raw feeling to it

LOL...why is it that all techno/trance threads turn into genre wars? :)

OK, my definition of techno is that the song has a good amount of bass, often nonsensical lyrics, fast rhythm, etc. Trance has more of a laid back feel to it, its calmer than techno. House is just too hard, progressive im not too clear on.

So by techno, I mean mostly the dance music you hear at clubs. I could give you a lists of mp3s I like so you can judge for yourself what genre fits me but I just changed hard drives and dont have access to most of my mp3's rite now.

HUH ? hard & fast beats = Trance ??? umm.. NO
if all he's looking for is hard & fast beats, I don't suggest any trance cuz he will most likely find it boring.

try chemical brothers, or possibly some Progressive stuff like Joshua Ryan, Hybrid or Humate - their progressive tends towards faster beats & breaks.

all I'm sayin' is I'm sick of the stereotypes that people endure. I mean Christopher Lawrence has to be one of the best Epic Trance producers/dj's in the world. I would hardly compare his music to "hard & fast beats" I would say the same for Tiesto - his beats are not really similar to Sandstorm or really "hard & fast"

The only group that's been mentioned that's really close to "hard & fast beats" is Sandstorm - & if you've heard 1 of their songs, you've heard them all They literally use the same hook in every track :disgust:

<< sandstorm is actually a good song, it was just sadly played out >>

my god man, no - have u listened to any of their other songs ??? It's the SAME SONG~!
even the music videos are the same. Dressed in White, driving a yellow car. Sandstorm is the worst thing to happen to electronica music - ever

Erick Morillo's been spinning a very techie-house mix recently. There's been a few articles about it in Klublife. & I would definitely recommend House over Trance to somebody asking for "hard & fast beats"
