I am going to upgrade my current pc (my sisters pc getting to slow so it's time for the hand me down program).......
What I have in mind is:
Amd XP 1800 or 1900 AGOGA
Abit KX7-333 (doesn't have all bells and whistles but I don't need them just a good board that can overclock well)
512mb PC2700
Hercules Xp Game Theater sound
350w PS

Now what I am having problems with is what ram to buy and power supply.
I definately am not paying $200 bucks for ram. I've heard good things about Samsung and currently it is like $140 but there is orginal samsung and samsung, what's the diff? Also any recommendations for power supplies? I am going to oc this pc's bus to 166mhz to get 333 but am not going to do much with cpu speed.

Thanks

Current System:
Amd 850@944 fsb@145
256mb pc133 crucial cas 2
abit kt7a
radeon 8500
sb live
antec sx-830 case

that 350 watt psu should do you
i would recommend antec or some other name brand psu of atleast 350watts
the antec truepower series look nice i am prob gonna pick me up the 480
the athlon 1600 to 1800+ models are good price/performance buys for both overclockers and non-overclockers alike
yeah samsung is good stuff
a lot of the other companies just use samsung chips and sell under their own name that is what is meant by "not true sammy" or "non-original"
just get their newest stuff
that is a nice motherboard
i hear it has a lot of memory settings and adjustments in the bios
should be fun
welp have fun

Abit is the best for overclocking, so if that's what you want, then it is definitely the way to go. I have Samsung RAM in my system. No complaints, it is good RAM and has weathered my heavy overlcocking. :)

im not sure i agree

abit used to be the best for overclocking, but anymore its close between several different board makers

personally i would say epox makes the best overclocking boards (but thats just my opinion)
