I am thinking about getting a DSL connection here at my home, and have just started looking around for a decent DSL modem. I don't know which brands are the best, and what interface is best. If you could please, recommend some of the better DSL modems out there. Also, which is better to have, internal PCI, external USB, or external ethernet? I would really like to have an external one, so can any of you recommend one over the other?? Thanks for all the help you can give.

Check with your DSL providers. Nine times out of ten they offer a free modem. A DSL modem will have to speak on their network so look for one you can program the virtual circuit ID (VCI) and VPI if you want to buy one from a 3rd party.

You'll most likely have to use whatever modem your ISP wants you to use, although they sometimes give a choice between USB, pci, and external.. always go with the external plus ethernet card

your ISP will give you one, but do your best to get an external ethernet modem, I have had nothing but problems out of every USB one I have used
