One thing that's keeping me from going SLI again is that I can't use two monitors, which is killing me. For my next build, i'm looking to get a core 2 duo (6600 or 6700) with an ATI chipset. I keep reading about the RD600, RS600 and whatever else is on the horizon, and I don't know if I should wait for those to come out, or just go with an Intel chipset that supports Crossfire (do those have support for multiple monitors..?)

So basically, I'm asking, what is the "best" (most feature-packed, if you will) conroe chipset that supports crossfire? is it available yet? if not, when?

I really appreciate any help I can get on this matter, it's been getting on my nerves ever since Conroe was announced..

TIA

im getting the asus p5w dh deluxe. its an intel 975x based chipset and it supports crossfire. that is available now for around $270. the intel 965x chipsets do NOT support crossfire. but with amd and ati together...i dont know if intel will continue to support crossfire anymore. i think your best bet is to get an ati chipset based intel bored or a intel 975x based board.

the boards should be out within the next 2-3 months i think.

I also am considering the P5W DH. "Considering" in that if I go with Conroe, that will be the mobo I will get.

As to this part, are you asking if Crossfire supports multiple monitors?

Pretty much, yeah. I know for a fact that SLI does NOT support multiple monitors (learned that the hard way), but was never 100% sure about Crossfire

I'm honestly not sure about switching Crossfire on and off without rebooting.

know that SLI allows it, but I can't give you a definitive answer on Crossfire.
