i need some advice for back spasms

Alright so i'm currently having back spasms in my lower back.
Any ideas to make them stop and what should i do to prevent them from coming back in the future?


Yes i know i should see a doctor, i've had back spasms before and have gone to they doctor... i was told to just pump lots of advil. Also another detail about my back is i have scoliosis *curvature of the spine*
 
You have to know what is causing the spasms before you can treat them. Do you have an impingement? Do you have a strain? Are you working out? Did you do any heavy lifting recently? etc, etc, etc.

Find out what the spasm is from and you can figure out a good Tx.

Scoliosis is a condition, you need to find out what is causing these Sx.
 
A good, hot jacuzzi with a strong water flow should work wonders. If you're old enough, asprin is my favorite pain reliever.

only thing i'm currently doing is playing baseball... the main reason i haven't gone to a doctor... just a couple games left... doc will say no baseball... can't have that

the spasms started when i just bent over to pick up a sock... sucks doesn't it?


my buddy has a hot tub... i'm sure i'll hit that up tomorrow night 🙂

Abdominal crunches can help give some stability to your back. It's an odd concept, but it's a good thing to get into the habit of.
 
You need some stretching exercises for the lower back. One I usually do is lay flat, knees bent. Cross one leg over the other knee, then slowly twist util the foot of the crossed leg hits the floor. Switch legs and repeat. Moist heat of any kind will also help to sooth the spasms.
Also, when you sleep either sleep flat on your back with a pillow under the knees, or on your side again with a pillow between the knees. Never on your stomach.
Watch the pain killers. They will mask the pain, but the spasms will still be there.
Lastly, one thing my doctor told me that can be a cause of recurring back pain is hamstrings that are too tight. Stretching them out can help as well.
