Hey, I had a computer running until the BIOS chip went and friend my motherboard on a update. So my friend brought over her Intel Celeron 2.20 478 and his Asus P4SDX and we installed everything, including a new 80GB Western Digital. At first we quick formatted and then when it would restart to install Windows XP the monitor would go into standby and wouldn't come back from video failure until we shut it down manually w/o restart but by then the process is messed up... Now when we set the harddrive to slave since CS and Master just freeze the computer and isn't read, it will format all the way restart, and if I shut the computer off and try to boot from the hard disk the screen after the POST and it just blinks a lot... We then setup Linux and that doesn't require a reboot so it worked.. We successfully got on there.. But I want Windows XP on my PC... and somtimes it says the CPU isn't set to the right speeds when it's a 2.20 and we have it set to 2200mhz... Somtimes this makes it so the computer won't go past BIOS..

I know it's not my Power Suppy, and we switched over RAM.. The PSU did read a little high in temps.. 40-50 C but only when it was loading. Need help ASAP.

Thank you.

Windows may be corrupt, so try to boot last bootable settings, then repair, then reinstall. But first, since it may be a mobo problem, see about turning off CPU throttling, and other unnecessary features.

i can't do last bootable setting, it doesnt get that far.. after post it stops.. and i dont think i have cpu throttling on.
