I need recommendation on headphones

am pretty nocturnal and don't really want to disturb my roommate, though she would never mention it. She in different room, but did mention she heard loud "gun sound like" once in awhile. Can never understand how she sleep at 11pm and wakes up at 6am every day.
Anyways, am looking for headphones mainly $10-$50, would appreciate recommendation on sub $100 as well. I prefer the "ear muff" kinds but open to recommendation. Am definitely no audiophile.

My sennheiser HD-280s do a good job keeping sound from disturbing others. You can easily find them for under $100 and if you're lucky you'll be able to find some for ~$60.

I second Sennheiser. I have a pair of HD-570s. They sound lightyears better than any of the other equipment I own, plus they're comfortable to wear for hours on end. These are the ear muff kind and are kinda on the "big" side, but are incredibly lightweight. I highly recommend them.

The HD-280s are pretty much your only choice for decent closed/isolating Sennheisers. Otherwise I'd go with something from the Beyer DT lineup, they have a better offering of closed cans IMO.
