Well its that time again. I need new speakers. Actually I need new speakers for the FIRST time. I've been using headphones forever. Would like a decent set and this 5-piece Monsoon MM-2000 for $200 CAN ($200 off ...regularly $400) sounds like its on a good sale right.

Anyone know the quality of these? Did a search on anandtech but couldn't find sh!t. I'm not the type of guy to spend more than $150 US on audio though ($200 CAN)... I'm a video-type person :p (prefer amazing 2D and a big phat CRT to spend my money on)

Anyhow here is a short description of the set in particular:

Monsoon MM-2000 5-Piece Speaker System.
This 5-piece 340-watt surround-sound system consists of 1 powered subwoofer with two passive radiators, 4 PFT (TM) flat panel satellite speakers with adjustable stands, and 1 desktop surround sound control module incorporating a master volume, bass volume, fader control, headphone jack, and mute.

PS how would you rank Monsoon MM-2000 to Logitech Z560 ?? the Logitech are THX certified so I assume they are decent....

Then again I have a crap audio card...might upgrade that in the process

A lot of people really like the Monsoons, but from what I've read the 5xx series is considerd better. Check out this review of the MM2000, while you are at that site, check out the Forums. That site is the best Computer Audio site on the Net(that I've ever found).

Monsoons rock my mother. They aren't popular, but they are surely up there with the other quality pc speaker makers.

Get them, they are THE sh!t.

How is the 5 series better? The 5 series is 3 piece.
If you dont go for the MM2000s then get the 3peice Planar Media 14s.

I dunno really, having only briefly hearing them in a store once, but others have stated that they sound better. These were people who had owned both.

Ive heard the Logitech Z-560s and they sound pretty good, but nothing compared to Klipsch. See if you can find some cheap Klipsch 2.1's
