I need information on CODECS

I have bought Colin McRae 3 game and it does not run (fails to get past the splash screen) if you have previously installed some CODECS (I dont know which ones) on it because the game menus have Windows Media Player 9 runing WMV files on the background. If the PC is a clean install of XP with minimal drivers, no problem, even the installion of POWER DVD makes CMR3 fail to run.

My question.

Is there an OS feature or a shareware tool to show what codecs are currently loaded on my OS ?

I want to try and see which codec makes CMR 3 crash ...

ANy help is appreciated ...

Audio and Video Codecs are hidden down in hardware properties. Here is one way to get to Video Codecs:

MyComputer/Properties/Hardware/DeviceManager/Sound,Video.../VideoCodecs/Properties/Properties

** Note 2 Properties are required at end.

Similar for AudioCodecs.

HTH.🙂
