I need IDE cable help

I have two types of ide cable. One has three hookups. the other has two. I will be running a dvd rom, dvd burner and floppy. Should I use the larger ide cable to the rom and burner, setting rom to master and burner to slave in the primary ide port? Can someone help please. I would greatly appreciate it. If you need clarification I can do that as well.

Assume from your question that your HDD is on SATA? If so, you have both the primary and secondary IDE ports open on your mobo. I would put the burner on the primary and the ROM on the secondary and make them both IDE Masters. The floppy goes to the floppy port.

It is best, IMHO, to have the burner and reader on separate channels.

80 line is only significant for a hard drive. Other devices don't need two way traffic.
