:eek:Ok, I leave my computer on all the time... no big deal.
I come home from work one day and the screen is all screwed up
Its locked up and everything, I have to restart...
When it comes back up the screen is like pixelated, there's blue or pink lines everywhere, and it looks like crap.
When I move the mouse it leaves a blue or pink trail.
I tried un installing the display driver and reinstalling; however, when it gets to the end the screen goes black and it says frequency out of range...
When I download the driver from the website, installing that results in the same thing, towards the end i get the out of range message.
I even tried to do a system restore to a few days ago when everything was working fine.. and nothing helps
Can somebody help me please, or point me in the right direction...

The video card is a ti4200 Geforce2 128MB with 8x AGP
Running an Athlon Barton at 2500+ (1.8 i think?)
512 memory, everything is cool except for that display thing
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated... thanks

It sounds like your videocard has simply died. It is "artifacting" right now. It will only go downhill from this point. You should be able to get a better replacement for cheap.

SO its no use tryin to fix it with software or anything?
The card is just dead?
I've had the card for about 3 years but I never game with it anymore...
I think the last games I played on it were warcraft and unreal.. but that was long ago :(

Well, it sounds like you tried the software fix and are still getting all sorts of graphical distortions and this is the sign of a card that is damaged at the hardware level.

It will most likely keep working as it does now but the artifacts are very unlikely to go away or get any better. :(

thanks a lot
Man, it's been a while since i threw down for this card
How much would a decent one run?
I really don't game anymore, so im sure even a weaker one would do, but i sure would hate to regress....

If i ever game tis older games that i play, like unreal, or warcraft.... mike tysons punch out maybe

where would be a good place to get one?
Should I just hit up best buy? or somewhere online?

Well, I would say check the hot deal forum.

Personally, I could sell you a GF4 ti4400(overclocks nicely to 4600 speeds) for $50 or my old ATI 9800Pro 128mb for $100 delivered. Both are retail cards. Just thought I'd throw those ideas out there... the 9800Pro would be a fine upgrade but there is no pressure. If I sell that then my backup machine gets a GF2-Ultra, lol.
