Ok so i have a office and a bedroom, in the office i have a file-sever and in my room i have a pc , both have gigabit card... and i have a giga switch in between hooked to a router...

Ok here is the question i have a Ethernet cable coming from the phone box (dsl) i want to put a jack on it, so it looks neat and i don't have a box on the wall with a cable coming out of it so i bought a wall plate and 110 type keystone jack cat 5E , this cable is stranded can i use the cable on this jack?

also

from my office to my room i need about 50 ft of Cat 6 for that i have bought cat 6 keystone jack, I was told to use Solid Core cable...am finding it hard to find cat 6 solid core in a 50 ft length, i can only find 1000 ft ... can i use stranded on it?

Thanks!

Typically, stranded cable is not spec'd for keystone jacks so your results may vary. DSL can be pretty sensitive, I would be more inclined to replace that with solid cable than take my chances with a keystone jack that may not be spec'd for stranded cable.

In which way is DSL sensitive ?

also the dsl line isnt very important, what is important is that i get maximum speed out of my cable, do u know any place i can find solid core cat 6 ?

Ok i just measured, i need a little under 100 ft of cat 6

I think I misunderstood which cable you're running with the Cat6... is it the DSL line or the ethernet that comes from the DSL modem?

Where are you located? I'm not sure I can make decent localized suggestions for you as to where to get cable.

OH sorry for the misunderstandings, This is what i need a cat 6 from my switch through the wall and to my room, I can leave the DSL one as is

Atlanta, GA

any place on-line would be fine, just some one you or some one you know has used before.

Thanks
