Ok so I need a new vid card for my new CPU (A643200+ OC'D to A643500+ speeds)

I can get a 6600 GT for $220
I can get a 6800 GS for $400
I can get a 7800 GT for $570
Note these are New Zealand Prices

Which card should I spring for and would paying that bit more be worth it for higher end cards?

Also, which card would run the coolest and which is the most likley to be the hottest?

7800gt:thumbsup: easily the best performer of the 3, not sure about the temps though. just get an aftermarket cooler if temps are a concern.

I bet your from auckland. Same here, and i suggest you get the 7800GT!

6600gt runs hottest, followed by the 6800gs then followed by the 7800gt.
for heavy gaming, 6600gt is behind the curve. the 6800gs is a great bang for the buck. I'm not sure how those NZD translate to USD though.
wait, the 6600gt costs $155 us, the 6800gs costs about $282 us and the 7800gt costs about $400 us. tough choice, but i would still go for a 6800gs. the 6800gs is something like 70-100% faster than a 6600gt while the 7800gt is something like 20-30% faster than a 6800gs.

^ that is exactly what I was thinking and I think I just might go for a 6800 GS since that is still a HUGE upgrade from my 9600 XT.

Just remember... 6600GT is a bit old as well, compared to the GS.

9600XT is AGP right? Did the 6800GS come out in AGP already?

Not yet. Sounds like he got a CPU + mobo upgrade first, now needs to do the video card.

Gd PCI-E... every AGP card price is jacked through the roof because so many people want them still.
