Hi there,

I need serious input from knowledgeable people, regarding this video card situation...

I have an ASUS v7700 Deluxe (GF2 GTS chipset), with VIVO and 3D glasses, in my primary computer.

However, the time has come to say good-bye to my Windows 2000 installation, which has acumulated quite a few bugs over the last year and a half. I have an excellent "tweaked" Windows XP Pro prepared and ready for the OS upgrade.

The catch? well, ASUS never bothered to post updated *working* drivers for this specific card. Right now, with the 6.49 drivers (yes, that's not a typo), I have the ASUS control panel and I can switch from monitor to TV whenever I want to watch video files in my living room with a simple Ctrl+Alt+T

I've called ASUS about the drivers, and they say the VIVO functions are not guaranteed to work any longer with the newer, non-specialized (aka "generic" nVidia drivers)

I'm not worried about Video-In, since this function is now better accomplished by my current ADS USB Instant DVD 2.0, and I never get to use the 3-D glasses, anyway

However, it's Video-Out that I'm REALLY worried about.

As you can guess, I'm not a heavy gamer on this machine (heck, I play Quake 3 on it more than anything else), and I probably won't even need to go for the very latest nVidia drivers (which are what, 7x.xx, right now?) The drivers included in this "modified" Windows XP SP2 DVD that I have (Retestrak, if you're curious) will probably suffice, and I guess they're somehwere around 5x.xx

But how will I get the system to "see" and activate the TV-out function, if I update to this newer OS? And will I still have the convenience of a simple keyboard shortcut to toggle between monitor and TV?

Help me with advice and tutorial links, please!

Thanks!

It was the WDM drivers package that did the trick, indeed. I was even able to assign a keyboard shortcut to the "switch displays" function...

Cheers!
