I need help with the Ram

It's me again. Since you got the same mobo as mine, can I ask you some question? I got a 3400+ Clawhammer. I went to the BIOS, change the multi to 10x, and 240 for the CPU clock mhz. Anyhow, I read in the Overclocking thread that in order to make the OC work, I must also do something with the Ram.

So I went into the Ram setting, but it only let me choose the pre-defined Ram speed. The highest speed they have is 166. I know that 80% of 240 is 192 as a 5:4 ratio. Do you know what I should do in order to make the whole OC work? My Ram is Corsair Value Select

ps: The whole system work fine with 240x11 . But it run in 3Dmark as 9513 from the default of 9499.

thanks

What RAM are you running? PC3200? PC4000?

If your RAM can't run at the 240 Mhz FSB speed, then just run as close to 1:1 as possible.

Those pre-defined RAM speeds act like dividers. For example, the 166 setting should be about a 5:6 divider. If your Corsair Value runs perfectly stable at 240MHz, though, go ahead and keep it there.

It's a PC-3200. So it's only 200mhz for me. What should I do to make it keep up with the OC of the CPU? Even though I OC the CPU, the speed still feel like the same. There must be something to do with the memory in order to get a big different after I OC though.

Okay so if I change my CPU clock to 219 x 11 multiplier = ~2400 mhz. If it run stable, then I just keep the Ram setting at default? If it's not stable, then I must change it to 166 as pre-defined?

ps: I heard that OCing can make data corrupt. I download lots of stuff, and if it corrupt then maybe I shouldn't OC at all?
