I need help with something at school.....

We are supposed to do a group presentation on the topic "Globalization has more/less pros than cons for less industrialized countries like Vietnam and Mexico" but I really don't understand what "Globalization" means since we haven't discussed it in class yet. I've tried looking in various dictionary's, but they all give me different meanings. Any help would be appreciated.

It is my understanding that globalization simply means that our daily lives are involving other countries more and more (mainly in business dealings). Thanks to the Internet and relatively peaceful times countries are working together to expand business opportunities.
