I need help with new wheels/tires for my car

I have a 91 Nissan Sentra SE-R
The stuff on it is the usual stock equipment.

185/60 tires, 14 wheels.

Now I want to do the usual "plus sizing" trick of getting larger wheels, but lower-profile tires. But I want to make sure to get the numbers right. How's the math work out so that I can keep the same overall diameter?

I was thinking 16inch wheels with somthing like */50 or */45 tires.

If you go to the tirerack.com site they explain it all. If you have trouble with that a phone call to them will do the trick.

Yeah i've been looking around that site, already sent 'em an email.

Anyone know much about rims? There's a zillion of them, i'm assuming just for looks, but what about weight/performance? Where can I find that info.

185/45/16's should be about right
205/40/16's shoudl also fit pretty well

The way to figure out overall diameter:

-Take your width (185mm) multiply by aspect ratio (60%)
111mm is your answer

Now take your rim diameter (14 inches)
convert into mm
355.6mm

add

466.6mm

Do the same for your other rimx sizes

+ or - 10% is your basic limits

I have 185/65/14's on my Stanza... and they recommended 205/45/16's for my car. Very close to what you have... 🙂
