i need help with my stero receiver!!!!1

everytime i turn the volume up it brings up the word protect and turns everything off. what in the hell is it protecting!!!!!!1

you have it wired up incorrectly, its receiving a lower impedence than it can handle.

aka: your receiver hates your speakers.

If you havent changed anything... the only real causes could be a short somewhere.... but if nothing changed that is less likely, or it died.

Let me guess, Sony reciever? If you haven't changed ANYTHING then your reciever is on it's way out. Time to buy a new one.

Sorry bro, but same thing happened to me. It finally got stuck in protect mode and would no longer play any sound. I got a nice Denon. Couldn't be happier with it.

My 900ES has been chugging along for years. One of these days I may have to upgrade to that new fangled AC3.
