This isn't due until Nov. 5th, but I'd like to get it done as soon as possible.

My topic is "Violence in the NHL."

My thesis is "Violence in the NHL will decrease with the removal of the ?No Enforcer? Rule."

The problem is, I don't know how I can back this. I haven't been able to find and statistics or anything to use as credible evidence.

My outline handed in to the teacher was as follows:

---------------------------------------
Background ? In recent years, the level of unacceptable violence by misuse of player?s sticks, and general disregard for opponent?s safety, has greatly increased. I believe this level of violence has grown as a direct result of the NHL implementing what is known as the ?No Enforcer? rule.

Problem ? The NHL refuses to remove the ?No Enforcer? rule from the rulebook.

Thesis Sentence ? Violence in the NHL will decrease with the removal of the ?No Enforcer? Rule.

Major issue one ? How the NHL was before the ?No Enforcer? rule.
Major issue two ? How the league has changed since the addition of the rule.
Major issue three ? How the league currently handles situations, and how the league should handle future situations.
---------------------------------------

I looked through the NHL rule book and found no mention of enforcers. Obviously this is just a term for another rule, but I'm not positive which rule it is.

Rule 56 - Fisticuffs is about as close as I could come to finding what I'm looking for.

Can someone please try to help me out

ill take it this is for high school? if so it might be ok. i read this earlier and suprised no responses yet. i think you are going to have a very difficult time finding the information you need to properly write this. it sounds like a good idea, but there just may not be the references around that you need. you could use the rule books and stuff like that, but as far as hard written stuff on the matter, that may be hard to find. i have no idea what sources one would use to look up sports stuff. business/medical has ebsco which kicks ass, and elibrary is pretty good. you may try elibrary. need to see if your school has a subscription though. you may be able to use, humm, less qualified sources if this is in high school. you could always email the guys at nhl.com and ask who you should talk to. not much help sorry, but here's a bump for ya :)
