I need help with my modem

When I to connect to the internet with my dial up modem on the computer I just built it wont let me. I check the modem, and it says it has a problem getting resources with the firmware (Code 29). Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

Found this with a quick search under GOOGLE:

error code 29:
Unable to establish a successful telephone connection.
1. If you heard the modem dial but DID NOT hear a dial tone:
i) make sure the phone cable is securely connected to the wall jack
ii) make sure the phone cable is securely connected to the line jack in the back of the modem
iii) verify that your phone line is active. You can do this by trying to dial out on this line with a standard telephone. [top]
2. If you heard the modem dial and DID hear a dial tone:
i) try an alternate phone number
ii) test with another modem (if possible). [top]
