I have slackware 8.1 installed on my ircd machine

I've been trying to get d2ol working on there
what it does... is it runs and then cycles through candidates without doing any processing
when I run it, the shell I run it from says:
Bad syntax, perhaps a bogus '-'?
Bad syntax, perhaps a bogus '-'?

but it runs, then it doesnt work right 🙁

I've searched and found suggestions from people who say to update a couple of libraries, and I've tried that... but I'm not entirely sure if it worked or not.... d2ol still doesnt work right (tried reinstalling it and everything)

I've done everything I can find, does anyone here have any advice or know how to get this working?

thanks for any help

bump...as soon as mastertech sees this he can help you, he just set up a bunch of Linux machines in his herd.

Zeruty, Im not sure how similar the code is for Slackware but Im running Mandrake 8.1 without any mods or rpm files added. I dont know if you have tried an updated rpm file. If not you may want to download Mandrake and try that. I KNOW it works. The later versions than 8.1 may require the rpm but thats it.
Im running it on 4 nodes using the same install disk.

Thanks for the tips....

however, that machine is my ircd server (irc = internet relay chat) and I need to avoid unneccessary downtime on it... a few reboots is all I am willing to do to get it working.. I'm going to be leaving it as slackware, because it's stable and it works...

daweasel, are you referring to the libgcc or whatever it was? I downloaded source for that library, configured, make, make installed, the whole 9 yards... who knows though, maybe it didnt work....

if i dont get it working I will just end up running ecc2 on that machine instead
