hello everyone. i have an Inwin Q500 or something along those lines...i cant remember if thats the model or not. but, i am looking to cool my system down some. i have been trying to find some 80mm and 120mm fans, but i cant find good ones for a decent prices. they are all either horrible and cheap, or good and expensive. id like to get four 80mm fans and two 120mm fans. how about this: a 120mm in the front bottom blowing in on the whole system, one 80mm in the rear at the designated hole, two 80mm on the side of the case (going to cut holes and screw those in), one 120 mm fan right above the processor and an 80mm fan at the top of the case (also going to cut the top and screw that fan in). i dunno if any of that made sense, if you are interested in helping and would like to see a diagram of all this, e-mail me and ill send it to you

TIA

if you are going to buy from 2cooltek, make sure you also buy fan screws. I found out the hard way that their fans don't come with screws.

I know Outpost.com sells 80mm Antec Fans for about $5, free shipping. But i think its backordered.

The usual shortcoming of the Q500 is that airflow is somewhat restricted from the motherboard area to the "upper deck" area. In my older Q500, I moved the power supply to the top of the case, which required cutting a new hole for it, and added a 120mm side blowhole fan (Panaflo L1A low-rpm model). That eliminated the bottleneck.

Thanks to the 120mm blowhole, no other case fans are needed for my system; the case temperature is basically the same whether I add 80mm fans everywhere else, or just leave them out. If you do leave the power supply in place, then you might want to just treat the Q500 as two separate cases: the top section and the motherboard section.

The motherboard section is easily cooled with a 120mm side blowhole and the power supply, and excess intake air will find its way to the top of the case and out the vents. The top section of the case can be cooled with a top exhaust blowhole or rear exhaust fan, combined with some method of letting the air in at the front, perhaps a hard-drive cooling kit that mounts in a 5.25" bay, and/or just drilling a bunch of 1/4" holes in the plastic 5.25"-bay covers to let the air in.

Hope that is food for thought. :) If you do make side blowholes, those ten-inch fan extension cords are nice to have so you can get the side panel on and off easily.
