I recently bought an used IBM ThinkPad, it has a PII 300, 190 meg RAM, 18 gig HD, and a DVD. I installed Windows ME, it came with Windows 95. I am getting the following Device Manager errors message:

The drivers for an unknown device are not installed. When I boot up Windows requests drivers for this device but since it does not specify which device...

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Thanks

Well, being that its a thinkpad the device it is probably looking for is probably something that the mwave device has. Mwave usually controls the modem and sound card and other stuff. If you have the real copy of winme there is a driver directory on it specifically for the thinkpad mwave stuff. Or you can go to IBMs website and get the latest version. All previous version from other win9X will not work with ME and ME stresses this when you try to install winme.

looks like you'll have to do a process of elimination of hardware devices to find out which it is, then search to see if drivers are available on the web.
more importantly, is the laptop working ok??

"is the laptop working ok?? "

As far as I can tell, it is working okay. It is the first laptop I've owned and I have not used a computer this slow in quite awhile.
