Just bought a cheapo scsi cd rom a toshiba 3501-b for $10. I'm trying to put it into a 9595 ps2, and i have no idea how to set the id on it. Any help would be greatly apprecciated.

Also if anyone knows anything about scitex and their software, namely star please email me at dartblazer@flashcom.net, i'm trying to reinstall the star software and i've seen someone do it before but i'm not positive i have all the info i need. Also the ps2 beeps when it starts up, one long and two quick, i've checked the xga card but there's nothing wrong with it. And it also displays a 15201 error. Thank you alot if you have any info whatsoever.

you should be able to pretty much set any id except for i believe it is 0 or 7 depending on what id you have your scsi card set to.

dartblazer, I have that drive in my second machine, and according to p. 17 of the manual, here's how you set the SCSI ID. Locate the Mode Select Header on the back of the drive (it's a set of jumper pins, four sets to the left, then a blank area, followed by three sets of jumper pins to the right). The Mode Select Header is located between the audio out connector and the SCSI cable connector.

On the left side of the Mode Select Header are pins labeled, from left to right, ID1, ID2, ID4. For SCSI ID 0 you leave all three sets open, for SCSI ID 1 you jumper (close) ID1, 2 for 2, and 4 for 4. For SCSI ID 3 you jumper ID1 and ID2. For SCSI ID 5 you jumper ID1 and ID4. For SCSI ID6 you jumper ID2 and ID4, and for SCSI ID7 you jumper ID1, ID2 and ID4.

Also remember to set the Termination jumper according to the location of your drive on the SCSI chain. If your 3501B is the only, or last, item on the SCSI chain then you need to jumper (close) the Term jumper. If you have another device on the SCSI cable after your 3501B then the jumper should be open.
