The Celeron 366A I just got won't go any higher than 458! ARGH... anyways I used to have one of those CPU burn-in progs when I had my old 300A, then I deleted it after I was done with it... forgot what it was called, but I remember it was a popular one. In any case, I'd like to find another, can anyone help me out? Perhaps a direct link, or if it's not such a big install file you can go the extra mile and send it to me! ICQ: 14958499

Burn-in programs won't help. Try upping the voltage to 2.1 or something.

My 366 wouldn't hit 550 either.

my mobo autosets the voltage, I don't know how to manually set it. I have a soyo SY-6BA+ BX mobo. Right now the computer won't even boot if I try anything past 83MHz bus (next step is 100MHz). But this 366A@458 doesn't seem to get as nearly as hot as my 300A that did 463 no problem, so I suspect It can do more. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You can do the pin-tape method to get 2.2 V. Do a search - I can't remember which pins. Mine booted fine at 2.2 V at 83 FSB but I still couldn't hit 100 FSB, even at 2.4 V. (I wouldn't recommend 2.4 by the way.)

A lot of the early 366 chips were dogs.

Does your system even POST at 550?

Hell it won't even boot at 550! I don't know how to reset the settings w/o putting a different processor in and my friend's took back his PII 450 so now I can't try 550 cuz If it doesn't work then I'll never be able to get my system back on. Any idea of how to reset the settings to default fsb manually on the board?

Many 366s will not OC to 550. My guess is that you have one. If heat were the issue, it would at least boot.

There should be a CMOS reset jumper.

Plus the fact that it's a slot 1 366 doesn't help. All the Slot 1 chips are from the "earlier era" and don't hit 550mhz easily. If you want a good overclock nowadays go and get a slocket and an FC-PGA chip.

Yup, sounds like it wont hit 550 no matter what you do.

I've got a dual 366@567/default voltage rig. Like the other poster, I have NEVER EVER heard of a Slot 1 366 running stable at 550. I've heard of a lot that would post, even a few that would (barely) boot, but NEVER one that would run stable at 550 at any voltage without unconventional supercooling. I'm sure there were a few, but I just haven't heard of them. My advice would be to either get happy with 458, or sell it and buy either a cB0 stepping PIII (700s in retail box can be had for as little as $190 shipped) or a Celery II (under $100). I'm switching back to a single processor puter w/a PIII700E at 933 (hopefully-haven't put it together yet). I'm not selling the celery rig though. It will make a good second puter for crunching.

Good luck,

PIII is together, and it works. :)
