Hello,

I just got a Netgear RT311 router for my home network. I learned that it has an older version of the firmware (ver. 2.30) that needs to be upgraded. Netgear officially has a newer version (3.22) out and I would like to install that.

Here's the problem. Inside the Reference Guide is says to use the FTP program included with DOS/Windows. The steps Netgear describes seem easy to follow. But they go on to say that only firmware version 2.50 and higher can be upgraded via FTP. Anything lower (such as mine) have to be done via the serial connection port. They say that I need to enter a series of XMODEM commnds inside the serial connection software to complete the upgrade. But that doesn't make sense to me. I am not fmailiar with XMODEM commnds and I need some help.

If anyone out there understands this and can provide a step-by-step process of doing so, I would greatly appreciate it. This is one of the main reasons I want to install the newer firmware; is so I can have easier FTP upgrading in the future. Thank you.
