I need help thunderbird

I am going to make a new comp I am going to take a thunderbird 800 and overclock it to 1.2ghz and I need to know what mobo to use. I was thinking the Asus A7V but it says it only supports up to 1ghz. Can anyone recommend a good mobo.

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure everyone here will recommend the MSI K7T Pro-2a. And also the ABIT KT7-RAID, or just the ABIT-KT7 without raid. Any of those three (including the ASUS A7V) should be good..

You are going to overclock an 800 to 1.2GHz? Good luck my friend. I handle a lot of chips and have not had one over 1075 yet. 😉

Your chances are best on the MSI. I've had chips that would run at a given speed on MSI, run 25-50MHz less on Abit. :Q

I agree with Compuwiz. How you say snow balls chance in hell.. Get a 750 and do a gig and maybe 1100mhz.....

I agree, I had a tbird 900 retail and best I could do with it was 1050 on A KT7 with the voltage mod and using 1.95v

Here's another vote against the 800 T'bird having any chance at 1200. Mine baulks at any thing above 1030, 10x100 is the fastest it will do stable enough for everyday use. Get a 750 and go for a gig, or maybe the 1100 and try for 12 or 1300.
