Ok I have the below system in my sig.

I have 2 NICs installed and activated. I have a Netgear 5 port hub, with 1 uplink port.
I have been using the cable modem in the uplink port with my moms computer in port 2 and my computer in port1 of the hub.
Well its getting expensive paying 10 more a month for a second IP address, and I can get my mom to buy a router :|, and I cant afford one right now so my question is.

What do I need to do to set this up with 2 NICs to get my simulated router setup. I am using the software SYBERGEN NETWORKS, that came with my hub. I cant find the instuctions for my hub so maybe someone here can help me.

I have tried runnign the cable modem into my nic1 then runnign a cable out of nic2 to teh uplink on the modem but it only works on my computer it doesnt work on my moms.

Thanks for your help

You need a 3rd NIC. 2 NICs in your computer, 1 in mother's. 1 NIC connects to cable modem. The other NIC to hub. Mother's NIC to hub. When I had that setup, I used WinGate as a proxy. ICS works as well. Hopefully someone can hook ya up with a link to better help you. If not, check out www.practicallynetworked.com. It should be there.

Here's how I would set things up: Set up a normal LAN with the two computer using two normal ports of the hub. Since you're using the hub you won't need any crossover cables. Then have the cable modem come in to the other NIC of the machine that has two NICs. I've also used WinGate and found it worked well, but if you have Win98SE I believe it has a similar utility build in. I know Win2K and XP both do.
