I need help removing the starter from a '97 Altima w/ manual tranny

Any one have some suggestions. I'd go buy the manual, but I don't have a ride into town. It's snowing, and I don't want to ride my bike/walk the 12 miles to the nearest autoshop.

Since it's a manual you could always bump-start it and take it to a Pep-boys or something. They knocked out a started replacement on my Altima pretty quickly and cheaply as I recall.

It's for a friend. He had it priced out, and it was $250 including labor. We found a new starter with a lifetime warranty for $50 (after core), and just want to install it ourselves. The problem is that the starter is in a bitch of a location, there's only about 4 inches around the unit, and it's a reach to get to it from any angle.
