Need help troubleshooting. Happened recently I turn the pc on and nothing comes on screen. If i click the power button on the monitor it will show the purple BenQ logo splash screen then goes to the "no signal" sleep mode. But nothing on the screen. No xp boot screen. Nothing.

It will turn on like its powering up but nothing showing. No cmos writing or anything. Power button stays yellow.

Took out the mobo battery to try & reset and nothing still. Im Thinking maybe the monitor cable or the mobo. No beeps of hardware failure as well.

Have 9800gtx installed and got crashes which im guessing was that the card is old and buggy and overheating when it got over 50 or so it would shut down. I did replace the thermal tape but not sure its doing its job so well so i will take it apart again and just use thermal paste since im getting a new gpu soon.

Thought it might be the 9800gtx so I disconnected it and tried to run it off the o/b intel gpu but still no output on screen. Thought it may have been the hdd so changed to another but it simply isnt showing anything on the screen.

Hdd light is flickering but not crazy like it does when its booting. Im guessing its either the monitor cable or the mobo. Any insight appreciated

Plugging into the IGP does not guarantee that the motherboard will detect that you've physically switched to it. It does happen with mine and it becomes a game of trial and error till something actually shows. You could try like rolli59 said, reset the BIOS after pulling out the GPU and plugging into the IGP. This makes the BIOS revert to its original state and with no memory of a GPU plugged in, it should revert to the IGP.

If it still fails, chances are your GPU is dead and you'll have to get a replacement to make it display anything.

yea, think the POS gpu is dead. removed the akasi thermal tape and put on some noctua thermal paste all over the mosfet chips and still nothing. removed it. the battery as well, reset and it came up. not sure why it didnt before though when I did the same thing.

thanks so much guys. I appreciate the fast replies and help. very kind of you.
gtx660 should be coming in a few days anyways. cheers
