I was at Compusa on Wednesday and saw a bunch of CPUs and motherboards, what are the best???
someone said that a thunderbird was very good....

It depends on what you are buying the motherboard for. Do you need it for a little internet browsing or are you going to do some Kicking 3D games on it?
 
for the money if you were building one today I would say AMD, T-bird or Duron depending on your budget.
 
MSI is making decent motherboards for gamers and the penny pinchers. Duron, or Thunderbird... they're both good. If you have particular apps or games in mind, one may be better suited than the other.
