Hi...I put together an AMD 1.2ghz tbird about a week ago..everything worked ok ..o/c to 1386 to 1400 turned of registry checker at 1400 and 3d games (NOLF) for 45 min....stupid me thought I would rearrange my hardware in pci slots after people suggested this maybe causing conflicts that is holding o/cing back......all hell broke out...

So now I reinstall W98se last night because I was crashing when I ran direct X diag...direct 3d hardware test...lockup right up...
I have a V5 5500 pci...as I said a week ago this ran fine in 3d games..

It seemed to work ok in the direct 3d hardware test last night...this am I install MS office 2000 pro and all its updates and boom the hardware direct3d crashes...

So I reinstall Directx 8a..no go...so I go to v5 drivers and set to default settings no go...then I go to Via chipset settings in the drivers and check compatablity setting..not performance or bios default and ok...now the direct3d hardware test runs no lockup...this all at 1200 with no ocing...

So I check the win98 screensavers and they run like crap very sluggish...

I install voodoolights a glide/d3d/opengl screensaver and can not get it to run

My system:
1.2 tbird
I installed Via 4n1 4.29final, then promise ata100 drivers then direct8, then video drivers
Asus A7V133 mobo bios 1.004
256mg of mosel ram
30 gb maxtor hd on the promise controller
48x tosh cdrom
plex 121032 cdrw
Realtek nic in pci slot 1
SB live in pci slot 3
V5 5500 pci in slot 4
floppy drive

video drivers are set to via chipset compatable(not bios default or performance)

I am at a loss at what the problem is ...I had this with WinMe so I installed W98se....

Is the video card bad??? Did MS office screw something up...

I installed everything at 1200(12x100) at default bios ...whatever it recognized the cpu and memory setting....

I can now woth the V5 drivers at compat. on via chipset setting can boot into W98se at 1400 with no registry errors at 9.5x147...at 148+...it crahes windows...10x140 is ok too....

I am at a loss....
